happy halloween.
personal
i’m taking a year off from winter. weathering the winter in albuquerque. moving to chicago in the spring.
being back is odd: what was once my life has become a neverland. a fine metaphysical blanket has settled over what was once the simple geography of my life. the tapes in my car don’t help; they’re all time-capsules from a two-year period of high school. or, i am split in two: the two major discernable pieces of my life are so dissociated from one another. almost nothing in the last four years of my life has anything to do with what came in the eighteen years previous.
moving in with my old friend neal into an adobe hacienda built in the 1880’s. that’ll be fun. i’m learning to knit from a couple of whip-smart, pretty jewish girls.
oh yeah. and two days ago i turned 23.
professional
i can feel myself going slack. it has to do with being home.
got a spot as an extra in a DWI spot with one of my best friends, tony. that was fun. got an audition for a healthcare spot, and a recommendation to and meeting with an agent here in burque. who knows, maybe i’ll get work in 505 films. that’d be a switch. and awesome.
i taught some UNM kids for a week. if you’re interested in that, check this out. it’s been my major thought process lately, and is the evolving nut of an area of acting i’ve been consciously working on since i first discovered my body.
thanks to josh for an acrobat of the heart to contintue the work. thoughts on that as i read it.
political
i’m not going to talk about voting on the 7th, and that’s pointed.
instead, i’m going to remind you of a land before time: remember when politics wasn’t about war? or bush? or islamists? remember international trade agreements? the rapidly deteriorating environment? wal-mart?
the fatcats, see, are making preparations for a democratic takeover: corporate giving has shifted blue-ward by a shocking 15 percentage points in the last month. and they don’t, i’m sure you will have noticed, fuck around with their money.
this is from the new york times. (login dailykos, pswd dailykos if you want em, courtesy the kossacks.)
a sign of impending victory, perhaps; but they’re not giving money for the cause. they could frankly give a shit about which football team is winning in the legislative, executive, and judicial – just so long as the 4th branch gets everything it wants.
in one competetive arizona race,
Lockheed Martin split the difference, donating $3,000 to Ms. Giffords and sending the same amount to her Republican rival, Randall Graf.
see?
it gives me the freaking heebee jeebies. i wish lamont were winning in connecticut.
