08/09 Season
June 9, 2008The Acting Company of New York City has asked me to be a member of their 08/09 season company. The Acting Company will, in cooperation with the Guthrie Theater , my alma mater, tour productions of Henry V and The Spy, throughout the country. You can check to see if I come through your town on The Acting Company’s website, under Itinerary.
Henry V will be directed by Davis McCallum. The Spy is a new play by Jeffrey Hatcher, based on a 1911 novel of the same name, written by James Fenimore Cooper, to be directed by the Guthrie Theater’s John-Miller Stephanie. My casting is mainly TBD, with the exception of Nym in Henry V.
Before that, I will be understudying two actors at Lookingglass for their summer production, Lookingglass Alice.
For those of you following along at home - this is really big for me.
And it means all sorts of things for my life in the next year and beyond. Between Redmoon’s Hunchback tour (footnote Hunchback) and this, it means I’ll be living in NYC for two and a half months, and afterward (through May) living not in Chicago but in a little place called America. The tour encompasses much of The South, as yet the great unknown. I’ll come out the other side as a member of the union, with hopefully (gasp!) some humble savings socked away. My map of Chicago theatre as a union member afterward will be radically altered.
Hunchback footnote: for those of you now joining us, the play that I did with Redmoon, directed by the absolute genius Leslie Buxbaum Danzig, of 500 Clown notoriety, as performed by the most lovely people ever, will be touring for a three week run to the New Victory Theatre on Times Square. Show runs from Oct. 22 to Nov. 9th, somewhere around 8 shows/week.
Thanks for all the good chi along the way.
Fêtes and fireworks!
